You didn’t ask the years to come
And leave, and take your loved ones too;
You’ve never sought the hostile word,
That isn’t what you are, or do –

You didn’t break, although you’re bent
And shaped, by all that time has dealt:
You didn’t ask, but still I’ll say,
There’s love for you
You’ve not yet
