an exercise in certitude

my reason sound,
my research pure,
i’d found THE truth,
so i was sure

i fought my war
with every word,
no time to waste
or not be heard

and some i loved
and who loved me,
i left, for they
did not agree

so look at me,
alone,
i own
this time, this way, this spot:

i know the
world’s true story,
but
i’ve somehow lost
the plot
