Standing Tall

I found her standing tall amid the cold,

Unable to move past, but stiff and proud –

And I am just as limited as she

For this life’s yard is all that I’m allowed

We struggle to do more, or to transcend:

Biology, our common, ruthless foe –

For we are just as limited as she

And evil triumphs everywhere we go

The evil that is reckless, and destroys;

The thoughtless argument, that’s merely noise –

As limited as she, the ancient one,

Who next to, we are still just

Girls and boys
