As I Might Use

There is a distance words can’t ford,
And many leagues ‘twixt you and me;
Such imagery as I might use
Seems frail, beside reality

For love is air, and chocolate bars;
What’s left of what is loss —
Yes, grief builds chasms in our thoughts
But love still tries
To cross
