“maniC”
(I’ve decided to do the a-to-z challenge by using the last letter of the word rather than the first because… well, just because.)
Oh, yeah, I’ve got to binge watch that…
But wait – I haven’t read that book…
I rarely read much anymore…
And I could use some exercise
I need to do a budget, but…
I want to learn to, you know, cook…
My money’s gone, I’ve gotten poor…
I need some time to think, health-wise
But when you’re manic, all of this
Makes sense – because it all makes sense –
The clouds that are your mind will swirl
And flash and roar and then condense;
A harmless word begins a rant,
For manic is, as manic can’t
I think I’ll take up macramé…
I’ll write a book, that would be good…
I need the gym, to lift more weights…
I really ought to take that trip
I am not sleeping, that’s okay…
I want to live in Hollywood…
I ought to call some old classmates…
I need that quote — where was that clip?
For when you’re manic, all the world
Is there, within the maddening haze;
You cannot sleep, you cannot rest,
And nights are just the same as days –
Until depression this supplants:
For manic “wills”, and then
It “can’ts”
You’re speaking my language. I miss those hyper-productive, “feel good” manic moments, but not the detritus of broken relationships left in the wake of my manic tornadoes. So, the meds continue.

I used to drive 65 miles to an all night diner I liked, spend six dollars, and drive home again.
