(I’ve decided to do the a-to-z challenge by using the last letter of the word rather than the first because… well, just because.)

‘Twas in the tiny flourishes
His artistry shone through;
The subtle lines of emphasis
In everything he’d do

So whether in calligraphy
Or full-blown works of art:
In serif or acrylics, he
Would always show his heart

The artist is the art, they say,
And that is truth itself;
But men and women reach beyond
Their time, or place, or health –

This bit of hagiography
Much poorer than its saint:
Whose every line and serif was
Mixed in with purest taint

For all that fortune ever gave
Was many a false start —
And yet his words and colors show
The glory of
His heart

  1. I can see it…just…an artist..the little details…how he puts himself in matter what the form. Life is art and we its creators..but unlike it, I do feel that within life, there are definitely things beyond our control.
