“perQ”
My job, it has its perquisites.
I cannot say their worth:
Like spending 20 hours here
Each turning of the earth
Like trudging the frustrating way
From debacle to crisis:
And thinking so damn hard I get
A case of hemolysis.
My job does have its perquisites
That make me more than slave —
Like driving me quite quickly to
A sound and early
Grave
I used several alternative cuss words here last night.

Since neither of my parents ever cussed, I had actually heard some of those alternatives used in real life.

I think this is a very legitimate use of the word damn. It is reflecting only on oneself-quite OK-besides it fits the poem.
